Snowdrop’s Arrival

Hope on the Horizon
Tap to view in my redbubble gallery.Once again, it’s that time of year when the first traces of spring begin to appear and everyone begins to feel a little bit more optimistic about the future. The first snowdrop of the season is one of the most exciting signals of spring in my opinion.
This morning, as I went for my routine walk through the woods, I noticed a few snowdrops poking their heads through the underbrush. Despite the fact that it seems extremely early, this sight was a pleasant sign that winter is finally coming to an end and that warmer, sunnier days are ahead.
The tiny, delicate snowdrop (Galanthus nivalis) is a flower that is indigenous to Europe and Asia. It often pops up from the ground while there is still snow on the ground, making it one of the first flowers to bloom in the early spring. The snowdrop is distinguished by its bell-shaped white flowers that hang from thin green stems.
For me, the first snowdrop’s appearance is always cause for joy. It signals the start of a new season and the conclusion of the lengthy, gloomy winter. It serves as a reminder that even when things appear to be difficult, there is always hope in sight.
Snowdrops are pretty simple to plant if you want to include them in your yard. They favour soil that drains well and an area that receives some shade. They are a fantastic option for gardeners in cooler places because they also like a chilly temperature.
Take a walk through your neighbourhood park or woods to see if you can spot some snowdrops if you’re feeling a little sad about the winter weather. You never know; it might just bring a smile to your face and give you newfound optimism for the future.

pointed arched window

The Silent Observer
Tap to view in my redbubble gallery.Greetings, I am a pointed arched window with a vase of flowers on my windowsill. I have been a silent witness to many moments in this old building, and I have come to realise the significance of windows like myself.
Windows are not just openings in the walls, but they are portals to the world outside. They allow light to enter, air to circulate, and offer a view of the world beyond. They serve as a bridge between the interior and exterior, connecting us with nature and the world around us.For those inside, windows can offer a sense of escape from the daily routine, a glimpse into the unknown, and a source of inspiration. They can bring joy and beauty to the space with the warmth of the sun and the colours of the changing seasons.
For those outside, windows can offer a glimpse into the lives of others, a reflection of the society, and a symbol of the architecture of the times. Windows are a silent observer of the world and a window into the soul of a building.

Periwinkle Blue

The Periwinkle Charm
Tap to view in my redbubble gallery. In days of old, in lands of yore, where rolling hills and forests flourished, there lived a maid named Lily fair. With visage bright and heart so rare, she lived in a cottage by the village square.
One morn, whilst wandering through the woods so wild, she chanced upon a mead of periwinkle, blue as skies and delicate as dreams. Of folklore she had heard, of magic and protection it did bring, so she plucked a handful of the blooms so rare.
As she homeward bound, she did espy a cloud of darkness hanging o’er the village nigh. The air was thick with dread, the birds fell silent in despair, and she hastened her pace, for her family’s safety was her care.
When she did arrive, she found her sire and dam, huddled in their cottage, fearing for their lives. They lit up as Lily ignited hope. She, ever brave, did then remember the periwinkle, and with hope so true, placed it on the windowsill, for magic and protection anew
As if by magic, a gentle breeze did rise, and the periwinkle petals danced, spreading their hue. The cloud did lift, the sun did shine, and the birds did sing, with melody so bright.
And so it was, that the periwinkle, with its colour so gay, brought magic and protection to that village, every day. And Lily, with her knowing smile so bright, did live on in story, as the maid who brought the light.

The Heart of a Dragon-fly

A Flight of Fancy
Tap to view in my redbubble gallery.“Ah, greetings to all of you humans who have the privilege of beholding my grand presence. Allow me to introduce myself – I am the magnificent Welsh Red Dragon, a force to be reckoned with. I am the king of the skies, the master of the winds, and the conqueror of all who dare to challenge me. My fiery spirit and my powerful wings strike fear into the hearts of all who cross my path.
But wait, I hear whispers amongst you. Whispers that I am not a dragon, but merely a small insect. How dare you, mortals! How dare you question the might of the Welsh Red Dragon.”
“Alas, it seems I must set the record straight. For it is true, I am not a dragon, but a red dragonfly, a proud creature known as the Red-Veined Darter or Nomad, scientifically referred to as Sympetrum Fonscolombii. Although I may be small in size, I am mighty in heart and spirit. I soar through the skies, spreading joy wherever I go, flitting from pond to pond, experiencing the world from a unique and wondrous perspective.
So, let this be a lesson to all of you. Do not judge a creature based on its appearance. For even the tiniest of creatures can possess a heart of fire, a spirit of adventure, and a sense of humour that will bring a smile to your face. And who knows, perhaps someday you too will come to understand the true nature of the Welsh Red Dragon, in the heart of the red dragonfly who reigns supreme in the skies.”

Echoes of the Past

Discovering Porthclais Harbour
Tap to view in my redbubble gallery.Thomas had always been fascinated by the harbour and its rich history. He loved to explore the area and imagine what life might have been like in the days when Porthclais harbour was a thriving port.
One summer’s day, as Thomas was walking along the harbour wall, he suddenly felt a strange feeling come over him. He looked up and saw that the sun had disappeared behind a cloud, and the sky had become dark and stormy. The muted colours made Thomas feel as though he had stepped back in time, to a different era.
As he walked along the deserted quayside, Thomas could hear the sounds of people and animals all around him. He looked to his left and saw a group of merchants, loading sacks of wool onto a ship. To his right, he saw a group of fishermen, mending their nets and chatting. In the distance, he could hear the clanging of the blacksmith’s forge and the lowing of cattle. The history of Porthclais Harbour is a
Anthony
tapestry woven from the stories of those
who lived and worked there.Thomas was so engrossed in the scene that he didn’t even notice when the storm had passed, and the sun had returned. When he finally looked up, he saw that the quayside was once again deserted, and the sounds had vanished. He rubbed his eyes, wondering if he had just been dreaming, but when he looked back, he could see the old buildings, the harbour wall, and the sea, just as they were in the present day.
From that day on, Thomas often visited Porthclais Harbour, and each time he felt that strange feeling, he would imagine what life might have been like in times past. He would picture the ships sailing in and out of the harbour, and the merchants and sailors going about their business. And he would wonder if the spirits of those who had lived and worked there in the past still lingered, and if they were trying to tell him their story.
Years passed, and Thomas grew old, but his love for the harbour never faded. He would often sit on the quayside, watching the sea and the clouds, and imagining all the tales that might have unfolded there over the centuries. And he would smile, knowing that the harbour would always be there, a reminder of the rich history and the endless possibilities of the past.

Life in the Spotlight

Shining a Light on Strumble Head
Tap to view in my redbubble gallery.“Ahoy there, I’m Strumble Head Lighthouse, a beacon of the beautiful Pembrokeshire coast. I’ve been shining bright for over a hundred years, guiding ships away from danger and blinking in the night sky for all to see.”

“I may be small, but I’ve got a big personality. I’m a one-of-a-kind lighthouse, sitting proudly on my own little island called Ynys Meicl or Michael’s Island. From here, I’ve got a front-row seat to watch the most magnificent marine life pass by, from whales and dolphins to porpoises and seals.
When the weather heats up, I’m surrounded by a blanket of flowers, and when the winds howl and the waves crash, I put on a spectacular show.
I may not be accessible to the public, but I can still be admired from afar. The parking area and coastal path provide stunning views of me and the surrounding areas, like Carreg Onnen Bay and Garn Fawr.
And let’s not forget, I’m also a photographer’s dream. With my flashing lights and stunning backdrops, I’m always ready for my close-up. So, next time you’re in Pembrokeshire, come take a look at me and all the beauty that surrounds me. I promise, it’ll be a sight to see.”

Inner Peace at Sunset

Taking the time
Tap to view in my redbubble gallery. There is something truly magical about a sunset. As the day comes to a close and the sky is painted with an array of colours, from deep oranges and pinks to purples and blues, it is hard not to feel a sense of awe and wonder. But for those with a philosophical bent, the sunset holds a deeper meaning – it is a reminder of the impermanence of all things and the importance of finding inner peace amidst the chaos of life

It’s good to focus on the present moment and the importance of finding inner peace and contentment. It is a way of being in the world that is rooted in mindfulness, compassion, and acceptance. And what better reminder of this than the sunset? As the sun sets, it is a reminder that the day is coming to an end and that change is inevitable. Just as the sun sets, so too will our lives come to an end. But instead of dwelling on this inevitability, we must learn to embrace it and find peace in the present moment.
It’s important to take a step back and reflect occasionally, and watching the sun set can be a form of reflection in itself. As we watch the sun dip below the horizon, we can focus on our breath and let go of our thoughts and worries. We can simply be present and soak in the beauty of the moment. This can help to quiet the mind and bring a sense of calm and contentment.
The sunset can also be a powerful reminder of the interconnectedness of all things. As we watch the sun set, we are reminded that we are part of something much larger than ourselves. The sun setting is not just an event that happens to us, but something that is happening to the entire world. This can help to put our own problems and worries into perspective and remind us of the importance of compassion and empathy for others.
So the next time you watch a sunset, take a moment to reflect on its deeper meaning and let it guide you towards inner peace and contentment.

Hereford Cathedral

Centuries in the making
Tap to view in my redbubble gallery.Hereford Cathedral is a beautiful and historic building located in the city of Hereford, England. The cathedral dates back to the 7th century, with the current building having been built in the 11th and 12th centuries. It is surrounded by lush green gardens and ancient trees and the river Wye is nearby which is beautiful to walk along.
One of the most striking features of the cathedral is its central tower, which rises to a height of nearly 200 feet. The tower is adorned with intricate carvings and sculptures, and is a prominent feature of the city’s skyline. As can be seen in this photo, the cathedral is particularly beautiful in mist, when the ancient stones seem to glow in the soft light.
Hereford Cathedral is home to several important and unique artifacts that are worth seeing. The most notable is the Mappa Mundi, a mediaeval map of the world that is considered one of the greatest treasures of the cathedral. The map is made on vellum and dates back to the 13th century. It is a large circular map, measuring 1.58 metres in diameter, and it is considered one of the finest examples of mediaeval cartography in the world. The Mappa Mundi is a unique representation of the mediaeval worldview and it is richly illustrated with illustrations of people, animals, and monsters from around the world.
Amongst the renowned mediaeval chained library is the Hereford Gospels, which is a 10th-century illuminated manuscript of the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The manuscript is considered to be one of the finest examples of Anglo-Saxon calligraphy and illustration.
The cathedral also has a significant collection of medieval stained glass windows, many of which have been restored and are on display. The windows depict scenes from the Bible and from the lives of the saints.
Additionally, there are several tombs and monuments that are worth seeing, including the tomb of St. Thomas de Cantilupe, who was the Bishop of Hereford in the 13th century and was canonized in 1320. The tomb is made of alabaster and is considered to be one of the finest examples of medieval sculpture in England.
Hereford Cathedral is a must-see destination for anyone interested in history, art, and architecture. It is a beautiful and peaceful place to visit and is open to the public year-round.

Car Park Meeting

The Lamp Post Incident
Tap to view my redbubble gallery.Report of Private Investigation
Subject: White car in a dark car park
On the evening of [date], I was assigned to follow a white car in a dark car park. The area was lit by a single lamp post and there was a sign on said lamp post warning against feeding the gulls.
During my surveillance, I observed the white car arrive at the car park and park in a spot near the lamp post. A black car arrived shortly after and parked next to the white car. Both vehicles remained stationary for approximately 15 minutes before the occupants of the white car exited the vehicle and had a brief conversation with the occupants of the black car.
After the conversation, the white car left the car park, with the black car remaining stationary. I followed the white car as instructed, but it did not engage in any suspicious activity and ultimately returned to its residence.
I did not observe any criminal activity or any violation of law. The sign of “Do not feed the gulls” seems not related to the case and I did not observe anyone feeding the gulls.
End of Report.Anybody got any suggestions how this story should continue, or what lead to this meeting? Let me know in the comments.

Year of the Rabbit

Lucky Rabbit
Tap to view in my redbubble gallery. It was the start of a new year, and I was so excited for what was to come. I was the rabbit, and it was my year! As I prepared for the festivities ahead, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of luck and prosperity.
I was surrounded by family and friends as we decorated the house with festive decorations and lit joss sticks to honour the gods and goddesses. Everywhere I looked, I saw the colour red, signifying good luck and fortune. We feasted together on traditional Chinese dishes such as dumplings, noodles, fish, and spring rolls.
As the night came to a close, we set off fireworks, thanking the gods and goddesses for their blessings. I felt a wave of gratitude and appreciation wash over me, knowing that the gods and goddesses were looking out for me and my family.
As I watched the fireworks sparkle in the night sky, I was filled with hope and optimism for the future. I had faith that the year of the rabbit would bring us luck and prosperity, and I was ready to welcome it with open paws.
